Setting Your Intention for the New Year

Writer's picture: Leslie SpeasLeslie Speas

For the last few years, I have focused on setting an intention for the year rather than setting New Year's Resolutions (we know those rarely work).

Setting intentions involves focusing on your overall direction rather than specific outcomes. Intentions create a framework for how you want to approach the year, guiding your actions and mindset.

Interestingly, my intention for the coming year is to be more intentional. This means being purposeful in my words, actions, and other areas of life. At times during 2024, I felt like life was happening to me rather than me steering the ship.

Here’s how I plan to cultivate intentionality in 2025:

💠 Saying no to anything that doesn’t align with my priorities.

💠 Being deliberate about how and with whom I spend my time.

💠 Paying closer attention to what I eat and drink. As I’ve gotten older, my willpower has waned—and my pants don’t lie!

💠 Getting organized by cutting out clutter and streamlining my surroundings.

💠 Focusing on fewer, meaningful connections by committing to select networking groups and activities, maximizing their value rather than spreading myself too thin.

💠 Letting go and letting God rather than trying to control people and things.

WHAT IS YOUR INTENTION FOR THE NEW YEAR?
